How to remove black bars from your videos (Screen Recording Tips)

In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to remove black bars from your videos when recording your screen using tools like Camtasia, ScreenFlow, OBS, or Screen-O-Matic (a common mistake I see all the time).

Black bars appear when the recorded video doesn’t match the proportions of the video player used to reproduce it.

The most common video formats have a 16 by 9 aspect ratio, so if your recorded screen area doesn’t match that aspect ratio, you will get the unsightly black bars.

Standard 16:9 high definition formats are 1280 by 720 (720p), 1920 by 1080 (1080p), and 3640 by 2160 (4K).
