In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to remove black bars from your videos when recording your screen using tools like Camtasia, ScreenFlow, OBS, or Screen-O-Matic (a common mistake I see all the time).

Black bars appear when the recorded video doesn’t match the proportions of the video player used to reproduce it.
The most common video formats have a 16 by 9 aspect ratio, so if your recorded screen area doesn’t match that aspect ratio, you will get the unsightly black bars.
Standard 16:9 high definition formats are 1280 by 720 (720p), 1920 by 1080 (1080p), and 3640 by 2160 (4K).
