Building a ChatGPT app with Glide

You knew this one was coming…

ChatGPT is taking over the world (and eventually our jobs!)

You can ignore it all you want, but this AI thing is not going anywhere.

That’s why I think the sooner you learn how this tech works, the better.

The good thing is that you don’t need to become a machine learning expert to start leveraging the power of these AI tools.

In fact, tools like ChatGPT can be used by literally talking to them like a human.

So, if you can ask questions, then you can use ChatGPT!

The trick is how to ask questions to extract the best possible answers.

This is still a bit of black magic, and it already has its own verb.

It’s called “prompting,” and some companies are already paying big bucks to people who are good at prompting AI tools to extract the best answers.

Interestingly, I found out that you can prompt ChatGPT to respond just in code.

This is very useful if you want to use ChatGPT answers inside your own apps.

For instance, I just made a new Glide app that prompts ChatGPT to suggest users with a list of recommendations for anything (movies, books, places, etc.).

Typically, ChatGPT will answer with a natural language response. But if you tell it to respond with the data structured in the form of a table or JSON object, it will do it too!

This creates endless possibilities to integrate ChatGPT into any app.

The best way to learn is by example, so in this week’s tutorial, I’ll show you how to integrate ChatGPT’s responses into your app.

In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to to create a recommendation app from scratch using Glide’s OpenAI integration in just a few minutes.

As usual, you can get a copy of the final template for the app so you can play with it and learn how it works.
