Launching a tabletop soccer game

It’s been a while! I’ve been busy working on multiple Glide projects.

However, this time, I’m writing for another reason…

I want to share a new project that I’ve been working on over the last couple of months, and I hope some of you find it fun and interesting.

You may not know this about me, but I’ve been an avid LEGO builder and soccer fan for as long as I can remember.

So what I’ve come up with was bound to happen sooner or later…

I’ve created something that combines the things I love (inventing, LEGO, and soccer) into one single project!

It’s called FlikBall, a skill-based tabletop soccer game where you flick, spin, and curve shots over a barrier while your opponent defends with a mechanical goalie.

It sounds silly, but it’s a ton of fun. And yes, with some skill, it’s possible to curve the miniature ball around a wall, just like Beckham!

Here is a tiny teaser video (more coming up..)

With the World Cup coming up next year, I decided to launch it as an actual game people can eventually buy.

In the next few emails, I will share more about:

  • The origin story of FlikBall
  • The process of building the first prototypes
  • Early testing with friends and family (thank you, nieces!)
  • Building a custom mobile app for the game
  • Submitting two patent applications for the game
  • Dealing with multiple suppliers in China to get the first 300 units manufactured
  • Behind the scene videos of the entire process, and..
  • Leveraging a ton of AI for researching, coding, project managing, and speeding up development

Even if you’re not into table games, I think you’ll learn a lot by following along with my experience launching a physical product from scratch.

And if you are into physical games, like to build stuff, and love soccer, then you may become one of the first lucky people to own your own FlikBall set.

My plan is to build 300 units (which are being made as we speak) and decide to make more based on how well the first batch sells.

I’ll let you know how you can get in on the very first batch soon!

Peace. Love. and Flik-ing-Cookies!

P.S. Do you know anyone that has launched/licensed a game or toy? If you do, I’d love to speak with them.
